Discover the World of Computers with Us!

Greetings, parents and guardians!

In our ongoing quest to equip our learners with essential skills for the digital age, we’re thrilled to provide a glimpse into what our young learners are engaging with during their computer lessons.

As partners in your child’s education journey, we believe it’s crucial to keep you informed about what we teach regarding online safety and its significance in today’s digital landscape. We build digital literacy. Learners are taught about protecting personal information. We promote the importance of positive online behavior’s. Learners are empowered to become critical thinkers. They are taught about open communication explaining their online experiences and how to recognize cyberbullying and harmful content and what to do when encountering this.

Starting from grade R, our curriculum delves into foundational concepts, ensuring learners develop fluency in navigating the digital realm. We kick things off by honing their mouse skills and familiarizing them with the keyboard layout, identifying specific keys and their functions. This early exposure lays a robust groundwork for their future interactions with technology.

As our learners progress to grades 1 and 2, they embark on a journey of a fascinating world of literacy intertwined with technology. Through the fun program Sebran, they immerse themselves in engaging letter and word games, fostering a seamless integration of language skills with digital fluency. Within this framework, students eagerly explore the keyboard, mastering the art of locating letters of the alphabet with precision and speed.

Moreover, we harness the creative potential of technology through the dynamic TuxPaint program. Here learners expand their proficiency with the mouse and keyboard, unleashing their imagination as they construct digital masterpieces.

At the heart of our approach lies the Computers For Kids curriculum, meticulously designed to empower learners with the essential skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world. Through a blend of structured learning and creative exploration, we aim to cultivate well-rounded digital citizens who are equipped to tackle the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.

In grade 3 our learners explore fun coding websites like Scratch Junior and Code for Kids. These programs help learners to think creatively and analytically as they design their own stories, games and animations. Some of the activities help learners to work collaboratively enhancing their communicative skills. Grade 3 learners are introduced to their email accounts where they learn how to navigate the Google Platform and be safe.

From grades 4 to 7 Learners embark on numerous exciting journeys of critical thinking, computer skills and creativity. They are all familiar with Google classroom, accessing their accounts and discovering fun ways to use the various applications that the platform offers. Learners are also taught to use Microsoft Office and understand how the two platforms overlap in similarity. These skills are often used to complete class assignments and homework tasks.

The newly introduced 2Simple Purple Mash program has been a game-changer, in fostering creativity and honing essential computer skills. This immersive experience not only nurtures their creativity but also strengthens their technical proficiency, setting the stage for future innovation in the digital realm.

Minecraft Education Edition provides a unique, captivating environment where learners develop their computer skills through exploration and experimentation. In this virtual world, they can engage with various subjects in a hands-on way, making learning a memorable experience. This program can be used across various subjects such as Mathematics, History, Science and Language Arts. Many concepts learned in this program are applicable to the real world; learning about architecture, urban planning by designing cities, or they can explore ecosystems and environmental science by studying the natural landscapes within the game.

In conclusion we remain steadfast in our commitment to equipping our learners with the skills, knowledge and values needed to navigate the ever evolving landscape of technology with confidence and integrity.
