On Tuesday 31 October 2023 our Environmental Club was invited by Nature Connect to participate in a conservation effort at the Doordrift Greenbelt Site in Plumstead. Their task was to assist in the removal of invasive Kikuyu grass and other alien plants. During the visit our members gained valuable insights into the significance of this work. They learned about the detrimental effects of alien plants and grass on the local ecosystem and how their removal is crucial for preserving the natural balance and biodiversity of the area. This experience highlighted the importance of environmental stewardship and the role each individual can play in protecting our natural environment.
