| We do not
elect prefects as we do not believe that a small elite,
select group of primary school pupils should be singled
out to control the behaviour of their peers. In keeping
with our motto SERVIMUS - we serve - we prefer to use
monitors to help in the day-to-day running of the school.
This encourages the learners to take ownership of a
duty and be responsible for a smooth daily routine at
our school. Our Grade Seven monitors do duty in the library
accessing books and other media equipment. In
the computer room they log in for the first class of
the day and in the Hall they set up and pack away the
sound equipment and other media equipment used during
the Friday morning Assemblies, concerts, productions
and big-screen events. Sport's monitors help on the
sports field by rolling the cricket pitch, locking and
unlocking the cricket nets and are also responsible
for sports kit.
In the Reception and Foundation Phases,
the monitors are a great help to the teachers as they
gather the younger children after break time and ensure
that everyone is accounted for and lined up in the correct
place. We can rely on our Grade Seven monitors to assist
around the school wherever and whenever needed.
