Admissions

Bergvliet Primary School is a co-educational primary school providing education from Reception Grade to Grade 7. The school is committed to a policy of non- discrimination on the grounds of race, gender and religious belief. The medium of instruction is English.

Our supportive parent body has always voted overwhelmingly in favour of paying for educators above the Departmental quota of 15 and so we have 14 full time and 6 part time educators on our staff whose salaries are paid for by the parent body through the Governing Body. This ensures that we are able to offer quality education and keep the ratio of learners to educators at more or less 32:1. Each class from Grades 1 to 7 has 3 classes.

Salaries for additional support staff (administrative and ground/maintenance) are also paid by the Parent Body. Parents and Learners may make use of the services of a Learning Support Educator and our Social Worker if and when necessary.

We have three Reception Grade classes. The reception year is an important developmental year and we strongly recommend that, although it is not compulsory, all learners attend a year before starting school.

Learners who attend our Reception Grade are expected to continue into Grade One at our School. By law children must be admitted into Grade One in the year in which they turn seven and should attend the school closest to their residential address. These learners are given preference but each admission is dealt with empathetically.

After an interview and on acceptance of your child a non-refundable deposit is paid to secure his/her place at Bergvliet Primary School. This amount is deducted from your annual fees.

If you would like your child to attend our School, please collect an enrolment form from Reception, Mondays to Fridays, 08:00 - 15:00.
